The National Committee for Quality Assurance is a private, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. Since its founding in 1990, NCQA has been a central figure in driving improvement throughout the health care system, helping to elevate the issue of health care quality to the top of the national agenda.

The State of Health Care Quality 2007 The State of Health Care Quality report is produced annually by NCQA to monitor and report on performance trends over time, track variations in patterns of care and provide recommendations for future quality improvement. Software certification part of new NCQA standards - Disease Management A review and certification for the design of clinical information systems is a part of the new disease management (DM) standards just released by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. In December, the NCQA finalized the industry's first broad DM accreditation program, offering not only accreditation for DM program operators, but also certification for organizations that design DM programs or software systems to help manage and support them.
